Enjoy an immersive learning experience in a dynamic city
The Penn State City Semester Pittsburgh program is a semester-long educational experience for Penn State students during their junior or senior year.
The program is modeled after study abroad programs, except students live, learn, and intern in the Pittsburgh region for a semester. Students accepted into the program will take a face-to-face course in urban sustainability and online courses to fulfill their major requirements.
An embedded field experience or internship is a core aspect of the City Semester Pittsburgh program. Students are matched with a community partner to work on research and real-world projects addressing urban sustainability in the Pittsburgh area. Students earn 15 to 18 credits toward their bachelor’s degree when they successfully complete the program.
Students who are interested in applying for the program are encouraged to visit the City Semester Pittsburgh website for application deadlines, program costs, and financial aid details. Pittsburgh area organizations interested in becoming community partners can find more information and an application on the City Semester Pittsburgh website.
