Utilizing Penn State expertise in landscape architecture, horticulture, and natural sciences, local communities participate in a process to envision a vibrant and more sustainable use of their land. Staff, students, and faculty work closely with local stakeholders to re-imagine and redesign land use in their neighborhood. The process includes developing conceptual plans ready for implementation. Depending on community capacity, construction drawings and installation of these ideas are possible next steps. Many projects focus on vacant lot reclamation (including vegetable and flower gardens), enhancing the neighborhood's quality of life.
